I want to become my own boss

Start your own business.

If you’re a maker yourself (or someone you know), you might also consider turning a hobby into a business. Even if you have to manufacture your products elsewhere – in a studio, commercial kitchen, or workshop – you can store and sell them in your own home.

A home-based business is a business—whether full-time or as a side business—that you can start and operate using your home as a base of operations. Some work-from-home businesses, especially those that sell online and don’t buy and hold large inventories, can even operate on the go — you don’t necessarily have to be tethered to your home.

Establish your own business.

Keep in mind that starting your own business also involves a lot of legal paperwork to set up the corporate structure. Whether you want to form a simple sole proprietorship or are exploring how to form an LLC, there are certain guidelines you must follow in order to operate legally. Consider working with a registered agent who will help you understand the ins and outs of starting a legitimate business.

How can self-employed generate revenue?

Offer freelancing services.

If you are looking for a way to make money, I am a firm believer that freelance services are a great way to do it. Personally, I make money from freelance writing, web design, consulting, and social media management. I know it works and you can make a lot of money for your time whether full or part-time.

Since starting freelancing just over a year ago, I’ve had the opportunity to work with nearly a dozen high-growth startups and world-class professionals. And I’ve never had to negotiate the premium I charge for content marketing services, which is why I wanted to share with you some tips on how to start a freelance job and how to make money from it, even if you’re an absolute beginner again.

Our process is simple:

1. Choose your NICHE. 2. Register your DOMAIN. 3. Build your WEBSITE. 4. Master KEYWORD RESEARCH. 5. Create quality CONTENT. 6. Use Affiliate links and ads to MONETIZE.

Create a product or service.

Develop your USP (Unique Selling Proposition). The first step in marketing is to find the phrases you consistently use to tell people what you do. Don’t use just one category to describe your services, always say your business name followed by a specific, memorable phrase that sets you apart and conveys the key value you provide.

Even if you don’t have any products to offer initially, it’s a good idea to think about how what you offer now can turn into a product later. One of the best parts of being self-employed is that you can continue to expand and improve your services and products over time.

Sell or promote your product or service. Affiliate Marketing

Advertise your work. Whether you’re posting your work on a personal blog, sharing your new business on social media, or handing out physical business cards, you need at least some marketing to make sure you let people know you’re open to business. Don’t assume people know what you’re doing: tell them.

Sales and marketing involve promoting a product or brand so that potential customers can buy it and you can earn or profit. However, there is a difference between marketing and sales as the latter is trying to make a profit or close a deal while the former is trying to create brand awareness.
